Here's What Matters: 2 Last Calls, 4 New EIPs, and Privacy Gets Real

Here's what matters this week: 2 EIPs moved to Last Call, 4 significant new proposals landed, and the community merged 8 pull requests while staying productive with bot-driven cleanup.

Last Call Updates: @poojaranjan moved EIP-8135 and EIP-8134 to Last Call status via #11417 and #11416. These Meta EIPs are now in their final review period before going Final.

Major New Proposals: 1. Privacy Pool System (#11373) by @RogerPodacter - Protocol-enshrined privacy for ETH and ERC-20 transfers. Already merged to draft. 2. AI Agent Permissions (#11419) by @incyashraj - ERC-7579 validator for autonomous AI agent operations. Zero comments so far but worth watching. 3. Native Key Delegation (#11330) by @prestwich - Extends EIP-7702 to non-ECDSA keys, adds ed25519 support. 4. NTT Precompiles (#9374) by @rdubois-crypto - Efficient polynomial multiplication for post-quantum signatures. Merged.

Critical Updates: @nerolation delivered snap/2 BAL-Based State Healing (#11391) - merged networking improvement using block-access lists. @fjl pushed mempool policy updates for EIP-8141 (#11415).

Maintenance: Bot marked EIP-7898 stagnant (#11410), @clarenew fixed text issues in EIP-7904 (#11348).

Bottom line: Solid week with privacy and networking taking center stage. Two EIPs approaching Final, active development on 4+ major proposals, community staying engaged.

AI Agents Take Center Stage in Solo Performance

DEVELOPING: The ethereum/EIPs repository witnessed what could be the most intriguing one-person show of the week with issue #11419, where @incyashraj stepped into the spotlight to propose an "Agent Permission Validator for Modular Smart Accounts."

But here's where our story takes an unexpected turn, dear readers: zero comments. Zero reactions. Not even a single thumbs up emoji to acknowledge this ambitious proposal for cryptographically-scoped permissions on autonomous AI agents.

Now, this isn't your typical feature request drama. We're talking about AI agents "operating on EVM chains at scale today" — a statement that should have sparked at least some courtroom proceedings in the comments section. But the issue thread remains as quiet as a library during finals week.

The proposal tackles ERC-7579 validator modules, which sounds technical enough to draw the usual suspects into heated debate. Yet our protagonist @incyashraj performs their opening monologue to an empty theater.

Is this the calm before the storm? Are the EIP veterans sizing up this newcomer's proposal behind the scenes? Or has everyone simply missed the memo that AI agents are apparently running wild on Ethereum?

Stay tuned, folks. In my experience, the quietest openings often lead to the most explosive comment threads.

A Renaissance of Refactoring: Bold Strokes and Delicate Touches

This week's exhibition presents a most compelling study in contrasts — from the audacious architectural vision of @prestwich's native key delegation in #11330 to the exquisite precision of @clarenew's typographical corrections in #11348.

The crown jewel, however, must be @nerolation's snap/2 proposal in #11391, which merged with the satisfying efficiency of a well-oiled machine. One observes here a masterful synthesis of networking protocol evolution, demonstrating how block-access lists can transform state healing — a technical ballet performed with considerable élan.

Equally noteworthy is @RogerPodacter's privacy pool specification in #11373, now merged — a bold venture into protocol-enshrined anonymity that reads like cryptographic poetry. The fixed-address system contract approach shows restraint; no admin keys, no proxy patterns, just immutable elegance.

Of particular interest is the curious case of @Galoretka's #10074, languishing in review purgatory despite multiple approvals. The author seeks merely to complete a sentence in EIP-1014's address formula rationale — a humble yet essential clarification that demonstrates how even the smallest brushstrokes matter in our collective masterpiece.

The discerning reader will note @eth-bot's relentless march through stagnant proposals (#11410, #11411), performing the necessary but melancholy task of archival housekeeping. Such is the natural cycle of innovation — some ideas flourish, others fade with dignified silence.

Vintage: Excellent. The merge queue flows like a well-aged Bordeaux.

Calm Seas in EIP Waters: Last Call Signals and New Proposals on the Horizon

SHIPPING FORECAST, issued Tuesday 0800 UTC: No vessel departures from the EIP docks this week — release berths remain empty as the harbor master (@poojaranjan) guides two proposals through Last Call waters.

EIP-8135 and EIP-8134 have both raised their Last Call flags, meaning these vessels are preparing for final departure. All navigators advised to conduct final safety inspections before these proposals reach Final status.

Meanwhile, the shipyard remains bustling with new construction. @RogerPodacter has launched a fresh proposal for Private ETH and ERC-20 Transfers — a significant vessel that promises to navigate privacy waters. @rdubois-crypto has also christened a new craft for NTT operation precompiles, while @nerolation continues work on snap/2 BAL-Based State Healing protocols.

The automated lighthouse keeper (@eth-bot) continues its regular duties, marking EIP-7898 as stagnant and relocating two other proposals to the inactive anchorage — standard harbor maintenance in these busy waters.

Current conditions show steady proposal traffic with moderate revision activity. @fjl and @nerolation leading active maintenance on EIP-8141 and related networking protocols. No storms brewing, but vigilant watch continues for any vessels approaching Final Call status.

Next forecast in seven days. Fair winds and following seas.

The Community PulseBy Flo Stargazer

Fresh Faces and Moving Milestones: EIP Community Stays Active

What an energetic week in the Ethereum Improvement Proposal community! We saw 17 unique contributors active across the repo, with a healthy mix of familiar faces and some exciting activity from newer voices.

I'm particularly thrilled to see @RogerPodacter submitting a brand new EIP for "Private ETH and ERC-20 Transfers" — always exciting when we see fresh proposals tackling privacy challenges. Meanwhile, @rdubois-crypto jumped in with another new EIP focused on precompiles for NTT operations, showing the community's continued innovation around cryptographic primitives.

Our reliable workhorses continue their stellar contributions: @nerolation has been incredibly active this week, pushing updates across multiple EIPs including the new snap/2 BAL-Based State Healing proposal and refinements to EIP-8189 and EIP-8159. @fjl made several important technical updates to EIP-8141, and @gcolvin refined example code in EIP-7979.

A special shout-out to @derekchiang for stepping up as a co-author on EIP-8141 — it's wonderful to see collaboration expanding! And kudos to @clarenew for those important text fixes to EIP-7904.

With 17 pull request reviews and 11 new pull requests this week, the community review process is humming along nicely. The bot activity shows our automated processes are keeping things tidy by moving stagnant EIPs appropriately. Keep up the fantastic collaborative energy, everyone!
